a little boho

I like to think this outfit is a little boho... definitely a great weekend look. I could see myself heading to the Saturday market in this. The purse is actually something I picked up in Miami. I thought it would be a great weekend purse, but realized quickly that it was a bottomless pit... I could never find what I was looking for. So, unfortunately, this is one of the few times you'll see me wearing it.

fun with sequins

As I've mentioned in past posts, I'm addicted to anything shiny! This tank top is one of my favorites. The sequins are soooo fun, and sometimes when the sun hits them just right, I'm just like a disco ball :)

I love to have fun with my outfits and I've learned metallics and sequins are a great way to do that.

P.S. These shorts are really awesome because the side zipper allows for more sequins when open, or less when zipped down.

flirty & floral

I like this outfit, but there's a reason why I'm not more enthusiastic about it... and that's because it wasn't originally the outfit I picked out to wear.

Here's the story:
I spent about 30 minutes the night before trying on different outfits, and found something I really liked. Morning of I put it on & continued getting ready. I had a few extra minutes (this doesn't happen often), so I decided to grab some lip gloss from my purse. As I was pulling it out, I also pulled out some BRIGHT RED lipstick. The cap fell off and somehow hit my shirt. There must have been a little lipstick on the cap, because the next thing I new, there was a big red spot on the front of my shirt. I literally only had 2 minutes until I needed to leave for work. I quickly took the shirt off, grabbed some stain remover and worked on the stain... with no luck and with no time left. I decided I had to wear another top. So I grabbed this floral, ruffled tank and threw it on. Luckily, I had tried it on the night before, and knew it looked good. But it wasn't what I originally picked out, nor the top I really wanted to wear.

All day I felt a bit off. Now, looking at these pictures, I realize the outfit turned out great. But it was hard to feel comfortable or excited about it, when I had my mind set on another top.

Well, got roll with the punches, right?

P.S. My friend, Amanda and I got together last weekend and made these cute rope wrapped chain bracelets! They were a bit confusing to make, and I ended giving up on the second one, haha. But the first one turned out great!

comfy and casual

I know this outfit isn't very special, but believe it or not, somedays I just want to be comfy and casual. This striped light pink hoodie is perfect for those days. It's lightweight and great for a cooler summer/fall day. I had to pair it with my keds.

denim & hearts

I love this new heart-print dress from Forever 21. It's fun and flirty, while still being appropriate for work. I was afraid it might be some-what see-through (I always have this fear with white dresses), but I wore a slip underneath and a white tank top and my worries disappeared. I also love this look with the jean jacket. It brings the dress down a level and seems more casual, perfect for a dinner out with the boyfriend!

the last days of summer

As summer dwindles down, and the leaves start changing, I have mixed feelings. On one end, I'm sad that the hot and long summer days are ending. I will miss eating out on my deck, fun summer activities and breezy dresses of course. But, at the same time, moving forward is exciting. I love everything about fall... changing leaves, boots, autumn colors and Halloween. Luckily, September is a beautiful month in Portland and we still have some nice, warm days left. I will be trying really hard to post all my summer outfits, (there are some stragglers that never got posted) before fall completely engulfs Portland.

unexpected closet find

A couple weekends ago, I decided it was time to clean out my closet... not just clothes, but everything. That meant going through boxes, drawers, shoes, and more. It took forever, but I  looked through my clothes and realized I had never worn this dress. I bought it about 2 years ago, before I started working at my current job, thinking I would be working in a business office. Instead, I work for an automotive company, so dressing fancy isn't the norm. I kind of forget about this dress, but after trying it on, I realized it was incredibly comfortable and looked great with a jean jacket, a belt and some wedges. So I wore it the next day to work.

Moral of the story, clean out your closet on the regular! You may find some items you totally forgot about. If anything, you'll end up with a cleaner closet ;)

day to night

I put together another "Day to Night" post! These are one of my favorite kinds of blog posts because they show the versatility of a 1 or 2 pieces and how changing up some items can change the entire look and feel of an outfit.

Here, I started with the same animal print tank top from Old Navy and some fun jewelry from Stella & Dot and Forever 21.

For day, I paired the tank top with casual rolled up jeans, a comfy sweater and some ballet flats. I kept my makeup and hair simple. But wore some flashy jewelry to keep the outfit interesting.

For night, I changed out of the casual jeans and instead wore my new coated skinnies (they kind of look like leather). I ditched the sweater and added some pointy black heels. I'm still wearing the same jewelry, but curled my hair and added some bright red lipstick.
