memorial weekend: oregon beach look

Hit up the Oregon coast yesterday for Memorial Weekend! When you think of the beach, you probably think of sun and bathing suites... but the Oregon coast isn't exactly like that. Our beaches are windy, usually wet, and usually cold. We lucked out yesterday with sun. It was probably about 65 degree, which I would call a beautiful day at the Oregon coast.

This outfit is suited for our coast. Sweater, jeans and sandals, along with a jacket I brought to block some of the wind.

a little on the rocker side

I like to think this outfit is a little on the rocker side... I think it's mainly the oversized tank paired with the black ankle boots that does it for me. It's nice to be a little bad every now and then... even if I'm the only one that feels that way.

open-toe shoes

If you haven't noticed yet, I wear a lot of closed toed shoes. The reason for this? I'm not allowed to wear open-toed shoes to work. Apparently there is a chance I could drop something on my toes, while I sit at a computer and design. And since I work 5 days out of the week, that means I don't have much of an opportunity to wear sandals, wedges and peep toe heels... this makes me sad. But I still have the weekends! These photos are from this past weekend. We went to a BBQ and I had to wear my favorite sandals from Charlotte Russe.

By the way, coral is one of my favorite colors for spring and summer! I grew up learning that reds, oranges and pinks do not look good on me with my red hair. Well, I'm breaking the rules!

boots and plaid

Sorry for the winter-ish outfit. The last two weeks were a big teaser of summer... but now we're back to rain. Standard for Oregon! Which means, I can still wear my boots and plaid button-ups. But I can't pull out the shorts and tanks just yet...

business in the front, party in the back

I will honestly wear anything leopard print! It's such a fun pattern and it instantly adds a little sass to your outfit. This shirt is not only awesome because of it's sassy pattern, but also because it's a mullet shirt! Shorter in the front, longer in the back. More commonly called a hi-low shirt (but I think mullet shirt gets the point across better). I wasn't keen on these styles of shirts, dresses and skirts at first... but I'm learning to love them. They create some fun lines and are great for wearing with leggings, as the back is longer and gives your tush a little coverage. Stay tuned for more mullet shirts, as I bought a few on my last shopping trip.

day to night

I've been wanting to do a day-to-night post for awhile now, and I finally had the opportunity to snap some photos. It was a Friday. I had work during the day and then a birthday later that evening. This is a simple way to dress an outfit up and down for different occasions.

I started with black skinnies and a fun, patterned tank. From here, I simply changed out my jacket, shoes, accessories and makeup. My outfit was instantly made casual or dressy.

DAY

To my black skinnies and tank, I added a bright yellow cardigan and taupe ballet flats. This kept the look fun and casual. I kept my makeup light, mainly using a clear gloss on my lips. Extra points for a cross-body purse in a fun color.

NIGHT

For my night look, I added a black blazer and black wedges. The look is instantly transformed into a more polished, going-out look. I darkened up my makeup with smoky eyes and red lips. A gold cuff bracelet and black clutch finish off the look.

Caribbean Cruisin'

Cruise through the Western Caribbean

The cruise ported from Miami. It was a fabulous 7-day cruise that hit 4 ports of call:

  • Cozumel, Mexcio
  • Belize City, Belize
  • Isla Roatan, Honduras
  • Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands

Our vacation was awesome! We saw, ate, explored, and drank a ton!!! My favorite part about the trip was Isla Roatan. If you've never been there, you definitely should check it out. It's the most beautiful place I've ever seen. Imagine an island of green, lush jungle with pristine beaches. We zip-lined here and then hit the beach for some relaxation. Seriously a good time! And I drank some tasty rum punch :)

I can't wait to go on another vacation. We're thinking about going to New York this summer... fingers crossed!
